Kerinci (Kinci, Kince, Kincai in local language) is a regency (kabupaten) in Jambi Province, Indonesia. The capital is Sungai Penuh (now a municipality). Kerinci is located 450 km from Jambi City, the capital of Jambi Province.
Kerinci is also the name of a volcano and a lake situated within the region. The culture is very distinctive. The traditional dances are the blends of Minang, Kerinci, and Malayan dances. The traditional dress is commonly red-bright and sophisticated.
Bahasa Kerinci (Kerinci Language) is very rich in dialect. There are more than 30 dialect and each village has its own.
Islam is the predominant religion and Malay is the predominant population in this region.
